Writing posts, five by five
March 1, 2008
I’m undertaking a small blogging experiment at the moment - what happens when I write the content for certian blogs on certain days and GET INTO the habit of only writing then for that blog (of course, there’s a couple of exceptions to this, but I’ll explain in a minute).
The practice of ‘five by five’ing isn’t a new one in the blogging communtiy, but it does, in many ways, take slightly more self control and interest in what you’re doing than other ways of blogging.
I was reading a comment left on one of my posts at Mamaneedsabookcontract, and came across ‘the working writer’s coach‘, who has some great advice on how to manage time. The problem being, I’ve got time management down to a fine art, my problem is there genuinely isn’t enough of it. I can’t BE a full time mother, writer, student, and game, paint, play music, and all of the other things I enjoy. Its physically impossible, unfortunatly, no matter how well I manage and micromanage my time - so I’ve given up a couple of things. Music went first, then artwork and painting (though I still indulge my model painting occassionally), and now I just about have time to fit everything in, within a nice priority system. Ok, sometimes it clashes, but prioritising seems to have helped.
Do you have any time ‘tricks’ you’d like to share (not time management - per se, but just ‘time’ tricks - got a till that cuts down your time spent on certain tasks?
I’ll be sharing a couple of them in the next couple of days - software first, tomorrow ![]()
