Submissions/Acceptances/Rejections
Footnotes to a lesson - The World is Dead - SUB

Previous Deadlines

World Is Dead, The: How people (or zombies) have developed to cope with the new situation of the living dead (31 Aug 2008) - Submitted yesterday, much to my delight - “Footnotes on a lesson”
Dia de los Muertos Anthology: Dia de los Muertos (31 Aug 2008) - “Dandy” won’t be submitted to this anthology, cause it just lacks *something*. I might see about subbing it to a halloween themed *something* otherwise, I can clean it up and keep it for next year.
Lucrezia Magazine: The Halloween Issue (01 Sep 2008) - not doing
Shakespeare’s Monkey Revue: Food (15 Sep 2008) - Not doing

{Writing} - I don’t know what it is…

But it just won’t quit.
I did 3000 words this morning - I’m rather impressed with myself, cause that’s the most I’ve written in less than two hours in quite a while. Currently, the kitteh is curled up next to me and has managed to make herself part of the zombie story I wrote, which I was both amused and disturbed at. I’m just waiting for my other half to get back before I submit it (cause the deadline is tomorrow). I’m going to give Dandy a try next, but I think I’m all horrored out for the day.

Y’never know though.

{writing} Today I will be mostly….

Finishing zombie stories, inputting notes and fragments that I’ve found and tidying up a present for my ‘faithful’ readers.
I can’t publish the zombie stories in public, cause they’re for anthologies, but if anyone wants to volunteer to beta read, I might be able to accommodate that (and thank you in advance!).

Tonight I’ll be on WOW, doing a Sunken Temple run, cause I’ll need it after the Zombie/horror stories I’ll have finished up.

A tool I can’t live without

A while ago, I found a tool called Liquid Story Binder. *
I discovered it whilst on a trawl for something else, downloaded it, and before the first evening of my trial was up, bought it.
I’m still using it now, almost a year on - it got transferred to my uni laptop as the first piece of software I *personally* installed and when I’ve purged other tools, because I just don’t get the same amount out of them as I put in, this one remains steadfast.

…Perhaps she deserves a book deal (rant herein)

I was skimming some of my news feeds, and caught this post on the NYtimes.

I think what really riled me was that she said …”"It all just came out of me,” she explained, acknowledging her hopes, as she had in the posting, that perhaps she deserves a book deal.”

So let me get this straight. Because she’s a bit neurotic, and can say some rude or degoritory things in public about her family - has four kids, and intimated that she, or they, or all of them have ADHD, she deserves a book deal?

Deadline picks and updates….

Previous deadlines that have expired

An open letter to the new writer community

I was once just like you.
The world was my oyster and every email about my pieces would be glowing praise, acceptance…

Have you reached the point where it stops being ‘they’re going to discover my genius’ and becomes ‘ok, so I need to put in my dues?’

Sitting on six rejections…

Yesterday morning I got one of those ‘rude awakenings’. It’s been a slow week, the kids are home, and the cat is wheezy (she might have cat athsma - she might have an allergy to dust of all things - which is really bad in our house cause it’s constantly dusty - no matter how often I dust. So next cunning plan is to get rid of as much of the clutter as possible, so that if I need to dust, every day, I can without it taking me hours.

Don’t know much about bio-logy

Every writer, at some point in his or her life, will face the eternal question of ‘what in the heck do I put in my bio?!?!’
I hate my bio. Well, I hate all 12 of them. They break down into something along the lines of the following:
2 per pen name (3 pen names) = 6
One for the sci fi writer
One for the horror writer
one literary
One article writer (which is a catch all that rotates out several urls based on what I’m writing)
One personal blogging
One professional blogging
